Wind & Green Energy

From blade tips to tower bases, STX has the experience, equipment, and route expertise to deliver wind turbine components to any installation site in North America.

Wind turbine blades being transported to wind farm installation site

Wind energy transport is among the most technically demanding work in the heavy haul industry. Turbine blades exceeding 200 feet in length, nacelles weighing over 100 tons, and tower sections requiring special lifting and positioning all demand a carrier with deep experience, specialized equipment, and a proven track record on wind projects.

Wind Project Experience: STX has delivered components for wind projects across the Great Plains, Midwest, Southeast, and Mountain West — including ridge-top sites accessible only via steep, narrow access roads that demand the most capable equipment and operators in the industry.

Wind Components We Transport

Turbine Blades

Blades up to 80+ meters transported on specialized blade lifters with self-steer rear dollies.

Nacelles

Generator housings and nacelle assemblies weighing 60–120+ tons on hydraulic platform trailers.

Tower Sections

Steel tower cans up to 90 feet in length transported in coordinated multi-piece moves.

Hub & Spinner

Hub assemblies and spinner nose cones delivered on step-deck and flatbed equipment.

Transformers

Pad-mount and medium-power transformers for wind farm collection and transmission systems.

Balance of Plant

Civil materials, fencing, aggregate, and construction equipment to wind farm sites.

Blade Transport Expertise

Transporting wind turbine blades is one of the most specialized moves in the industry. Modern blades exceeding 200 feet in length require extendable trailers, self-steer rear dollies, blade lifters for tight corners, and meticulous route planning to navigate rural roads, railroad crossings, and access road grades that were never designed for loads this size.

STX has the blade transport equipment, the experienced operators, and the route survey capability to move blades safely from rail transload yards or port offloads all the way to final installation position at the turbine pad.

Solar & Other Renewable Energy

STX's green energy capabilities extend beyond wind. We transport utility-scale solar project equipment including tracker systems, inverters, large pad-mount transformers, and construction equipment for ground-mount solar installations. Our experience with remote, undeveloped project sites makes us an ideal logistics partner for greenfield renewable energy development.
