Maintenance & Safety

A zero-compromise safety culture backed by rigorous fleet maintenance, driver training, and a safety record that speaks for itself.

STX truck fleet maintained in company shop

Safety isn't a department at STX — it's a company-wide commitment that runs through everything we do. From our in-house maintenance shop to our driver training program, every aspect of our operation is designed with one priority: making sure our drivers, our customers' cargo, and the public are protected on every move.

FMCSA Safety Rating: STX maintains a Satisfactory safety rating with the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration and consistently performs above industry average on SMS (Safety Measurement System) metrics across all categories.

Fleet Maintenance Program

All STX tractors and trailers are maintained by our in-house shop team. We follow manufacturer-recommended service intervals and supplement them with our own enhanced inspection schedule designed for the demands of heavy haul operations. Nothing leaves our yard with an identified safety deficiency.

Inspection TypeFrequency
Pre/Post-Trip Inspection (DOT)Every trip, every vehicle
Preventive Maintenance — TractorsEvery 15,000 miles or 90 days
Preventive Maintenance — TrailersEvery 90 days or annually (per use)
Annual DOT InspectionEvery 12 months, all equipment
Load Securement Equipment AuditBefore every specialized move
Tire Inspection & ReplacementAt each PM interval and as needed

Driver Qualification & Training

Every STX driver holds a current Class A CDL, passes a DOT physical, and clears a thorough background and motor vehicle record check before being hired. New drivers complete a company orientation covering our load securement procedures, route communication protocols, emergency response, and company safety policies. All drivers participate in annual safety refresher training.

Drug & Alcohol Program

STX participates in a DOT-compliant drug and alcohol testing consortium. All drivers are subject to pre-employment testing, random testing throughout the year, post-accident testing, reasonable suspicion testing, and return-to-duty testing if applicable. Our zero-tolerance policy is communicated clearly to all employees and strictly enforced.

Load Securement Standards

STX follows FMCSA Part 393 load securement regulations as a minimum standard — and in many cases exceeds them. Our load securement procedures are documented for each type of cargo we regularly transport, and drivers are trained specifically in those procedures. Third-party load securement audits are conducted periodically to validate our practices.
